African Palace joins the football legends at SoccerEx 08!
by Kiara Miller
African Palace brought you the all time legends of Anfield, Old Trafford, White Heart lane and Barcelona’s Nou Camp at this years Miraculous SoccerEx08 with our VIP Sponsorship!
African Palace gave twenty lucky players the chance to tackle their way onto the forefront of the legends pitch. We gave you and a partner the chance to jet off to Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton to catch the likes of John Barnes, Ossie Ardille along with midfield legend Glen Hoddle plus many more world renowned football favourites. We started our search by asking you to answer three simple questions and if you managed to answer all three correctly we entered you into the lucky draw. This years SoccerEx took place on the 23rd November.
Congratulations to the following players who joined us for an exclusive five star VIP lunch in at the Lekgotla restaurant, in the presence of all their soccer celebs.

The afternoon’s activities…
The crowd roared in approval as our local and international soccer legends’ polished their boots and took to the field at Soccerex 08. The soccer exhibition 2008 hosts delegates from the local and international soccer front in a build up to the world cup which kicks off in 2010.
African Palace sponsored the highlight of the 4 day event which sees soccer legends from Liverpool, African all Stars, FC Barcelona and Manchester United take to the field to demonstrate a majestic array of skills and talent. In addition to this our 20 lucky players who managed to join us for a five star VIP lunch in, got to spend an afternoon on centre stage with renowned legends - John Barnes, Bruce Grobbelaar, Mark fish, Gary Bailey, George Weah and many more. Our players thoroughly enjoyed every minute of soccerex showbiz as they chatted away with the football greats, however African Palace pulled out all the stops by giving them the once in a life time opportunity to hold the FA Cup whilst we took pictures to prove their case. Our players sat down to an amazing five star buffet lunch and enjoyed complimentary drinks.
The tummies were full and the smiles were showing as FC Barcelona and the African all stars kicked off a startling chain of events. The crowd was hyped and the ambience was one that couldn’t be matched with African All stars showing a stupendous display of talent to take an alarming win over the acclaimed FC Barcelona. With the crowd standing behind their local heroes, Liverpool prepared to take on the illusive Manchester line up featuring John Barnes, Bruce Grobbbelaar and George Weah. After a tight first few minutes Manchester put one in the back of the net to ensure they booked their place in the final.
The final whistle blew and Manchester had the All Stars on the back foot from the very first minute. All Stars tried every defense tactic in the book but an entourage of United skills proved far to much with Manchester walking away 6-1 victors. The crowd celebrated in delight as they applauded all the players for a remarkable effort.
The aftermath..
After all the soccer matches had ended our players joined us for a live performance of African classical music and an evening filled with excitement whilst cocktails were on offer and a variety of true African cuisine. They got to speak to all the main authorities in charge of 2010 and believe it or not they even got to meet Zakumi the 2010 soccer world cup mascot!
This year’s soccerex festival really proved to be a highlight for many soccer fans from rural and urban areas around Africa.
Well done to all the players for contributing to a truly spirited event!
