France Passes Online Poker Bill

A bill was recently passed in France legalizing and regulating online gaming and online poker. The bill was passed after French Parliament votes fell 299 to 223, in favor of the legalization. It is thought that the bill will be passed before the World Cup kick-off in June 2010. A number of online poker rooms cater for the European market and France currently has a number of online players that frequent many online poker sites around the world. The bill will prove favorable to players as well provide taxable income. Online poker will be taxed at 2 percent and sports betters will see a tariff of 7.5 percent.
