Harrah’s hires PartyGaming CEO
27 April 2009
There are high hopes in America following the election of the Democrats that the internet casino and gambling ban will be lifted. In anticipation of such a move, land based casino group Harrah’s Entertainment, has hired Mitch Garber, the ex-CEO of PartyGaming, to head up their internet based and World Series of Poker divisions.
This move follows on major losses suffered by the majority of land based casinos in the recession. Harrahs are hoping that the acquisition of Garber will enable them to create an online presence ahead of the opening of the lucrative US market. CEO Gary Loveman has said that he had “great faith in the prospect of any law changes, especially as Barney Frank, head of the House Financial Services Committee, has always been an opponent to the UIGEA.”
