Kentucky up in the air over gambling expansion
11 January 2010
USA: Several of Kentucky's struggling racetracks have been rallying their state's legislature for a gambling expansion that would allow them to add slots to their offerings. It's a strategy that competing tracks in neighboring states have already found success with and the Kentucky tracks now feel that slots are a necessity if they want to hold onto their dwindling crowds. Although Kentucky's Governor, Steve Beshear, supports the change, the newly proposed slots legislation would also have to pass in the Legislature, and thus far the topic has found very little support in the state's Senate.
