Negreanu halted in WSOP bracelet bid
12 June 2009
‘Kid Poker’ narrowly missed snagging his fifth WSOP bracelet late on the 8th when his cards failed to give him the edge against Brock ‘Tsporano’ Parker. Negreanu went up against Parker in the $2, 500 Six Handed Limit Hold’Em game with a substantial lead but his cards failed to materialized and he was busted out by Parker in numerous hands. After losing, Negreanu headed off to the $10 000 World Championship Omaha HL/8 or Better event, continuing his seventh day of playing Poker for 15 hours straight.
As he says, “This is mentally tough. It’s not for everyone. I kinda hate it but I kinda love pushing myself to the edge.” Negreanu has three second place WSOP finishes to his name as well as four bracelets. Parker won a handsome $223, 697 for his first place – he is known within the industry as one of the best players in No Limit games, although he is not a household name. Alex Borteh, fellow Pro, says “Daniel is a great player and a person but a lot of people become famous because they toot their own horns. People don’t know Brock because he doesn’t post on poker forum all day or draw attention to himself. He is a below-the-radar kind of guy, an online legend and his win is well deserved.”
