Playtech gets ahead of game

Playtech  has made a significant foray into the global lottery market by signing a deal with Scientific Games, the US gaming services provider, giving it access to government contracts and a boost to its Videobet machines business.

The deal enables the software provider to the online gambling industry to take advantage of state lottery operators’ growth plans.

As governments start to legislate for online gambling markets, their state lottery operators need online poker, bingo and casino and other internet gaming products to remain competitive.

Scientific Games is one of the world’s biggest suppliers of lottery systems, its customers including Camelot in the UK and the Chinese government, as well as states across South America, the Far East and Asia.
