WSOP win for 21-year-old
14 June 2010
The $1,500 buy-in Six Handed No-Limit Hold’em tournament at the World Series of Poker saw a surprise winner recently: 21-year-old Carter Phillips. Phillips walked away with his first ever WSOP gold bracelet and $482,774 in prize money. At only 21 years, 7 months and 14 days, Phillips is the sixth youngest bracelet winner in WSOP history. Beating last year’s turnout of 1,459 entries and breaking the record for the most entries, 1,663 players took to the tables at this year’s Six-Handed tournament. Phillips had his first memorable win at the European Poker Tour championship in Barcelona last year and he has been unstoppable ever since.
