Over Half a Million Rand Given Away in Bonuses as the F1 Prediction Competition Finishes in Dramatic Fashion!

It started at the tenth Grand Prix race of the season in the legendary Nürburgring circuit, and since then our His Win Could Be Your Win prediction competition grew rapidly in popularity. The excitement of the competition was kept alive with the F1 itself being so tight that any of the top four drivers could have won the championship for a majority of the promotional period. In what was surely one of the most exhilarating seasons we’ve seen in decades, African Palace amplified the excitement by giving away around R580 000 in real money bonuses! The number of entries increased with each race, and every entrant who correctly predicted winners in each of the Grand Prix races (beginning from the European Grand Prix) was guaranteed a bonus on their deposit. With nothing to lose, players continued to enter race after race and although there some upsets along the way, there were many winners as well. After all, that is the nature of the prediction competition.

In the F1 itself, the unpredictability began around this promotion began. The young rookie from McLaren-Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton, led the drivers’ standings while his teammate and World Champion, Fernando Alonso trailed him in what became a bitter rivalry.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikonnen came desperately close in the previous two seasons to win the title but lost out on both occasions to Alonso, while his teammate, Felipe Massa, continued to grow in strength. Raikonnen, who left McLaren to join Ferrari this season, began the campaign as a champion with a Grand Prix win in Australia, but fell away badly as the season progressed. By mid-season, Raikonnen had less than half the amount of points as season leader, Lewis Hamilton.

While Hamilton made waves as season leader, dissension was evident in the McLaren team as World Champion found it difficult to work with Hamilton. Raikonnen just built his pace and never gave up. As Hamilton slipped in the latter part of the season, Ferrari and Raikonnen gained in momentum. In the last race of the season, one of three drivers had a chance to clinch the title. In order to win the title, Raikonnen needed the McLaren drivers to finish outside the podium AND win the race. And at the Brazilian Grand Prix, that is exactly what happened, and Kimi Raikonnen was crowned the 2007 F1 Driver’s Champion!

Throughout his amazing run African Palace kept a close eye on proceedings as we made His Win Your Win in our prediction competition. With the bonuses on offer the exhilaration of the competition itself formed an ideal backdrop to a competition that grew in anticipation each week. And each week the numbers of entries grew resulting in more fantastic bonuses being given out.
