Ferrari has done it yet again! Räikkönen and Massa showcased their worth at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain and did Ferrari proud. Deserving McLaren took third place. The Spanish Grand Prix was oozing with fast fuelled action. With a total of six accidents, mechanical damage, radiator damage and engine problems this was surely a race that was not be missed. The thrilling F1 Monaco Grand Prix had more than its fair share of heart-stopping crashes but has brought the world championship alive again! Lewis Hamilton was in trouble when he bashed the wall at the Swimming Pool exit while trailing Felipe Massa’s Ferrari. However he came out tops after a nail-biting chase and is now back in the championship lead with 38 points. What’s happened to Fernando Alonso? He did not seem to have any luck finishing 10th after a series of collisions.

This weekend saw the return of the brilliance that is Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton’s fans were delighted by his home victory at Silverstone, Great Britain. The race started on a damp track, with the promise of more rain to come. Strategic thinking by the teams was the method that secured them a podium in this often treacherous race, with driver after driver slipping off the wet track. Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa and Robert Kubica failed to shine, coming home pointless, with Hamilton’s win lifting him right back into contention for the world championship.

The F1 Magyar Nagydij, Budapest Grand Prix saw an unusual turn of events with a first time victory for McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen. Just two weeks after Toyota’s Timo Glock left the German Grand Prix in an ambulance following a high-speed crash, he wowed us all by clenching a second place finish. Glock’s second place was also Toyota’s best finish thus far this F1 season, securing Toyota a fourth place in the constructor’s standings. Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen finished third, Renault’s Fernando Alonso finished fourth whilst McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton finished fifth after a front-left damaged tyre left him struggling to keep up pace.

What an amazing race was that of the F1 Belgium Grand Prix at Spa –Francorchamps on Sunday! This spectacular circuit in the mountains was sure to bring some unusual weather patterns, and that it did. With the track boosting dry as well as wet areas, the drivers had a lot more to contend with other than the customary fight for first place. As the race drew to an end, the excitement built as contention for first place strengthened between Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton pulled out a controversial move on Kimi, Kimi later spun out, removing him from the race, as he had struggled to work around the wet track with his dry tires. The race ended with a first place finish for Hamilton. A conjunction by the Ferrari team meant that Hamilton’s passing incident at the last chicane cost him a 25 second penalty, allowing Felipe Massa to take first place, Heidfeld to be moved into second while Hamilton clenched onto a third place finish.
1st Place: Felipe Massa - 2nd Place: Nick Heidfeld - 3rd Place: Lewis Hamilton

What could Ferrari do? Wow! what more could McLaren and especially young Lewis Hamilton ask for in Shanghai? It was home ward bound for Hamilton as he got a clear start off the grid and a clear track ahead. With Felipe Massa watching his championship rival disappear into the distance and the time gap continuously growing he pushed the screws on his Ferrari to ensure he stayed within just 7 points of Hamilton leading into the final race in Brazil. However lets not forget the help received from team mate Kimi Räikkönen who lead most of the race in 2nd position, but generosity saw him give way for Massa in order for him to stay in the world championship running’s. However Ferrari did manage to extend their lead in the constructer’s championship with a crucial 2nd and 3rd place finish and only Lewis Hamilton’s McLaren making it over the finish line. Heikki Kovalainen suffered a huge blow when he misjudged a corner and punctured his left front tyre which saw him result to retirement. The championship has come down to the wire and with Lewis Hamilton edging towards making F1 history who will take the checkered flag in Brazil?
1st Place: Lewis Hamilton - 2nd Place: Felipe Massa - 3rd Place: Kimi Räikkönen

The pressure was on with Massa in pole and Hamilton needing only a 5th place finish to secure his F1 title.
The rain came down moments before take off, leaving team managers scuttling to their drawing boards to
re-develop their strategies! However the talk of the town was: who was going to walk away with this year’s championship?
The Brazilian fans were holding thumbs for local driver Felipe Massa. But Wow! What more could they ask for, with Felipe Massa showing his true winning spirit by speeding off into the distance right from the start to eventually take victory.
As Massa cruised over the finish line the Ferrari garage roared with approval, knowing that championship leader, Lewis Hamilton had found him self in deep water by getting stuck in sixth position during the course of the race. However the flood gates opened just in the nick of time for Hamilton when Timo Glock failed to keep him a bay. Hamilton was over the moon as he managed to squeeze into 5th position and of course take the drivers championship!
Congratulations to our youngest ever F1 world champion –Lewis Hamilton!
